Getting started

Quickstart

Under Hunter pulls live odds from The Odds API and analyses every game's pace profile to surface under value automatically. Here's how to get up and running in under 2 minutes.

1
Open the dashboard
Go to under47.netlify.app from any browser — phone, tablet, or desktop. No login, no install required. Works everywhere.
2
Select your sport
Use the Sport dropdown to choose NBA, NFL, MLB, or NHL. The pace benchmarks automatically adjust for each league's scoring averages so the meter is always calibrated correctly.
3
Hit Fetch Live
Click ▼ FETCH LIVE. The dashboard pulls real-time odds from DraftKings and FanDuel. Your API key is already saved — no setup needed. The status bar at the top shows how many requests you have left this month.
4
Scan the pace meters
Each game card shows a colour-coded pace meter. Higher % = stronger under signal. Anything 65%+ with juice at -110 or better is your prime under spot. Cards with a green left border are your targets.
5
Run the AI analysis
Hit ▶ AI pace read on the Totals tab for a plain-english breakdown of the slate. Hit ▶ Generate deep read on the Intel tab for a full under strategy report. Claude reads your live data and tells you exactly where the edges are.
💡
Best time to fetch live data
Hit Fetch Live 2–3 hours before tip-off. That's when sharp money has already moved the lines but the public hasn't caught up — you'll see the most accurate totals and often find favorable juice before books tighten it.
Core feature

Understanding the pace meter

The pace meter is the engine of Under Hunter. It converts each game's raw total line into a single 0–100% "under pressure" score by comparing it to each league's historical scoring average.

A high score means the game is projected to be a slow, low-scoring affair — exactly where unders thrive. A low score means a fast-paced, high-scoring game where overs have the edge.

▼
65–100% — Strong under
Total is well below league average. Defensive matchup or slow-tempo teams in play. This is your prime betting zone — especially when juice is -110 or better. Look for the ★ PRIME tag.
↘
50–64% — Mild under lean
Total is below average but not dramatically. Still worth considering if at least one other confirming factor aligns. Check the factor pills on the card for supporting context.
—
40–49% — Neutral
Total is near league average. No strong edge either way. Skip this game or wait to see if the line moves before tip before committing either direction.
▲
0–39% — Over lean
Total is above average — fast game expected. Avoid the under here unless you have a very specific reason. Let the over bettors have this one and stay patient.
⚠
Pace benchmarks by sport
NBA: League avg 222 pts — slow ≤210, fast ≥235
NFL: League avg 44 pts — slow ≤37, fast ≥52
MLB: League avg 8.5 runs — slow ≤6.5, fast ≥11
NHL: League avg 6 goals — slow ≤4.5, fast ≥8

Reading the summary strip

The five metric cards at the top give you an instant read on the entire slate before drilling into individual games. Check these first every session.

CardWhat it showsWhat to look for
Under signalsHow many games today have a pace-based under leanIf 60%+ of games show under signals, it's a slow slate. Lean heavily toward unders across the board.
Avg total lineAverage O/U total across all games todayIf this sits below the league average, the whole slate skews under-friendly. Context confirms the individual signals.
Avg under juiceAverage price to bet the under across all gamesGreen = -110 or better (above break-even). Amber = juiced — be more selective about which games you back.
Best under priceThe least juiced under line on the entire slate-105 or better = exceptional value. This is your highest-priority game for maximum long-run edge.

How to use the AI buttons
AI pace read (Totals tab) generates a 3–4 sentence sharp breakdown of the slate — strongest under spots, juice advantages, and games to avoid. Generate deep read (Intel tab) gives you four detailed under insights including pace factors, juice notes, and a contrarian angle. Run both after fetching live data for the sharpest possible pre-game read.
How to bet

Under betting strategy

The pace meter is your first filter — but the sharpest under bettors stack multiple confirming signals before placing. Here is the full framework.

⭐
The Triple Lock — your highest-confidence setup
1. Pace meter 65% or higher — total is well below league average
2. Under juice -110 or better — above break-even value in your favour
3. At least one defensive-tempo team — check factor pills on the game card

When all three align, that is your prime under spot. These occur maybe 1–2 times per slate but are historically where the sharpest edge lives. Do not overbet them — one unit is enough.

Additional confirming factors

🚫
When to avoid the under
Pace meter below 45% — the game is projected fast, do not fight the data
Under juice worse than -118 — you need an unsustainably high win rate to profit
Both teams top-5 in offensive pace — run-and-gun matchups eat unders alive
Garbage time situations — teams trailing big pad stats late and blow totals regularly
Edge building

Juice math & break-even rates

Understanding juice is the most underrated skill in sports betting. Every point you save lowers your required win rate — and over hundreds of bets, that difference between -105 and -115 is hundreds of dollars in your pocket.

Under oddsBreak-even win %RatingWhat this means
-10050.0%★★ EliteEven money — extremely rare, grab immediately
-10350.7%★★ EliteExceptional value, well above break-even
-10551.2%★ GreatStrong value — highlighted green in the dashboard
-10851.9%★ GoodAbove break-even — solid value for under bettors
-11052.4%FairIndustry standard — acceptable baseline
-11553.5%TightYou need to win more than half to profit — be selective
-12054.5%AvoidBook has a significant edge here — skip unless conviction is very high
-13056.5%AvoidWalk away. This game is priced heavily against you.
💰
The real-money impact of juice shopping
Over 100 bets at $100 each, the difference between consistently finding -108 vs. -115 is roughly $650 extra profit at the same 55% win rate. Shopping for the best under price is not optional — it is how you build a real edge over time. The dashboard surfaces the best juice on the slate so you never miss it.

Signal strength guide

BadgePace %Recommended action
★ PRIME UNDER SPOT72%+ with -110 juice or betterHighest confidence bet on the slate. Triple lock conditions met. One unit, verify injury report, place it.
▼ STRONG UNDER65–71%Prime spot — add to your shortlist. Look for juice at -110 or better before committing.
▼ Under lean50–64%Good but not elite. Look for at least one more confirming factor. Half unit or skip if nothing else aligns.
— Neutral40–49%No edge detected. Wait for line movement or pass entirely. Do not force bets on neutral games.
▲ Over lean0–39%Avoid the under. Consider the over if juice is reasonable, or skip the game completely.
Daily routine

Pro daily workflow

①
Morning line check (optional)
Open the dashboard in the morning to see opening totals. Note any games where the pace meter fires. Then check again 2–3 hours before tip to see if lines moved toward the under — that movement confirms sharp action and strengthens the signal.
②
Pre-game routine (2–3 hrs before tip)
Fetch Live → read the summary strip → scan game cards for green borders and ★ PRIME badges → check juice colour (green = go, amber = selective) → run AI pace read → check injury reports manually for any flagged games.
③
Props cross-reference
Switch to Player Props. Filter to Unders only, Best value first. Green highlighted rows are your targets. Cross-check: does this player's game also have a pace under signal on the Totals tab? If yes, you have a double-confirmed prop under — that is your spot.
④
Read the Intel tab last
The Intel tab auto-generates signal cards from your live data every time you load it. Pay special attention to back-to-back flags and slow slate detection. These are environmental signals that apply across the board — if the Intel tab is firing on slow slate, lean under everywhere today.
⑤
API quota management
You have 500 free requests per month. The status bar shows remaining count after every fetch. One fetch per evening uses roughly 1–2 requests. Normal daily use will never approach the limit. Quota resets on the 1st of each month.
Help

FAQ

Why does the pace meter sometimes not match my gut feel on a game?
The pace meter uses the total line as its primary input. The total already bakes in injuries, matchup factors, and pace data from the books — so the meter is reflecting the market's current consensus, not ignoring it. Use it as a starting point alongside your own research, not a replacement for it.
The AI buttons are not producing output — what's happening?
AI calls from a hosted browser page are often blocked by CORS security policy. This is a browser limitation, not a dashboard bug. The auto-generated Intel cards give you the same core signals without AI. For full AI analysis, the dashboard works best when run locally using python -m http.server in your terminal.
How many API requests does each fetch use?
One fetch of totals, spreads, and moneylines costs 1–3 requests depending on the number of bookmakers and games. Fetching player props for a single game adds 1 more. With 500 free requests per month, you have plenty for daily use all month with room to spare.
Can I use this for live in-game betting?
Yes. Hit Fetch Live at any point during a game to pull updated live lines. The Odds API includes in-play odds when available. The pace meter works on live totals too — a significantly reduced live total compared to the pre-game line confirms the game is trending slow and reinforces the under.
What sport works best with this system?
NBA is the sweet spot. Daily games, fast line movement, rich pace data, and player props that correlate tightly with team tempo. NFL totals are also highly reliable on this system. MLB works well on low-scoring slates. NHL has the highest variance and fewest data points — use with more caution.
How do I share the dashboard?
Just send the link: under47.netlify.app. It is fully public and works on any device. Note that your Odds API key is embedded in the file — anyone who views the page source can see it. For sharing with others, consider getting them a separate free key from the-odds-api.com.
Can I update or improve the dashboard?
Yes. Download the index.html from Netlify, make changes, and re-drag the folder onto your Netlify dashboard to redeploy. The whole update process takes under 60 seconds. Planned future features include a bet tracker, line movement history, and a bankroll calculator.
Is this legal?
The dashboard is a data analysis and decision-support tool. It uses publicly available betting odds. Whether sports betting is legal in your jurisdiction is a separate question — always check your local laws before placing any wager.
